I'm thinking about putting in an offer on a house on Claremont Ave, between N. Willow and Forest St. Is this still considered a "bad" area?
Does anyone have any personal experience living near here? I would love any advice/experiences people in Montclair have to offer.
you are right by the train/buses, many many restaurants(bars as well), and in an area that is on the come up. Great location imo. Also the taxes are reasonable. put that offer in ASAP. it will be off the market by tomorrow morning. things go very quickly. Good luck.
The mean streets of Montclair. Take a walk thru da hood.
Is this really the hood? I grew up in Passaic Park and the area I was checking out today seemed pretty similar. There were some unkempt houses that made me pause a bit, but overall I would love to live there. The only part I worry about is being able to sell down the line since so many people refer to it as the "undesirable" part of town.

Thanks, I will. I was pretty happy about finding it until I read so the forums talking about what a terrible area it is. How scary can a neighborhood a half mile from Whole Foods be?
I'm wondering if these areas of Montclair are still unsafe? I am looking to rent in Montclair and have found some nice places in the Pine St/Glenridge Ave and Mission St area, but I want to feel safe as I have a dog that I will need to walk in the evenings. Any input would be appreciated, thank you!
Funny how this thread rises from the dead every two years.
