If you really want to spotlight your area sincerely and sound legit doing it you would not have a need to trash other places.

I've lived in Hudson County all my life. I have unfortunate friends who have gone to school in Union City, West New York, Weehawken, North Bergen, etc. I have friends and family who are cops in this county. I used to compete against students in those schools as a kid in everything from sports to spelling bee's, etc.
I live within a mile of West New York! (in the process of moving from this unfortunate area into Bergen County)
If I had kids, they would never be allowed to attend schools in those urban areas. But that's me. Not sure why you're getting personal. I didn't get a chance to see what you wrote "attacking" me, but jeez....relax. You asked our opinion....and I'm being honest and truthful.

Phony gangs? Not quite sure about that ! Stats do not prove that!
So it is OK, if you have money and commit crimes ?
Yeah I want my kids hanging out with those who will get away with it just because they have $$$$ !!!!

It is not about trashing other places... Everyone is busy trashing WNY and an urban area. I am just simply stating these things are happening everywhere.
It is listed in articles everyday but that is denied. Many schools are listed in the Need Improvement list that are not urban.
Union City has one of the best schools in the district. It is a Blue Ribbon - NJ Star school but who would care , right because some of the children come from low income families.........
Never said that WNY was my area. That is an assumption that is being made.

Hi Gemini77,
Unfortunately hudson co. is a high crime, low income area. It is urban & the schools are very over crowded. My friend is a teacher there, & he teaches his 1st grade class in spanish! If I were you, I would drive around, take a tour of the place, & see if you think it's a great place to raise a family. I think it's not, but you can make your own opinion.
Best of luck!

Stats you say. What stats? There are none because there are no gangs in Franklin Lakes
It is just the media trying to sell the local newspapers.
And yes I agree with you about not wanting to be around a bunch of rich kids who wish they were street. I know all about that. I will not go into details.
There is nothing worse than rich kids trying to be street

This will be my last post on this subject as it seems the thread starter is not interested in objective opinions, only those that help to strengthen his/her jaded view of a very urban, crime ridden, and impovrished area.
WNY aint bad if you're a single male. A young couple might do well their also. If you're latino, you'll do fine I guess.
For a young family, WNY and that whole area including Jersey City, Union City, Guttenberg, etc is not a good palce to raise kids or live safely.
The schools are ****e, there is gang activity. As a matter of fact, only two months ago did we hear about a Secaucus man on his way home from work being chased down the street by some 16 year old gang members and being pushed into traffic, for no apparent reason except to harrass someone. The man ended up living, but was pretty badly injured from being hit by a car.
This happened in WNY by two 16 year olds who go to school in WHY and a 17 year old Jersey City native. The man was 32 years old and lived in my home town of Secaucus.
Being a 26 year old male of some stature myself, I could never imagine being chased around by 16 year olds, unless they had weapons of some sort, and even then, I doubt I'd run away.....but it just goes to show you that WNY aint a happy place.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I hope I dont read about some unfortunate tale involving you in future newspapers.

Yes, the crime is bad, but try finding a legal parking space - by the time you do, you'll be nursing home material!
