Schools in Union City have improved over the past few years, however they are still pretty appalling. For example, in 2006 Emerson High had 11th grade English and Math proficiency rates at 70% and 65% respectively. State average is 84% and 76%. Still, in 2003 they were at 52% for English and 28%for Math.
