hi I need some advise on lyndhurst. How is the town -- I work in New York in IT...We are looking for a nice quiet two with good mix of races...

Is it a quiet town?
does property value have good return? What is the average price of house in this area?
is this a good choice for starters as first home..
We have a small kid 2 year old, so how is the school district?

Really appreciate your help in advance..Looking forward for some advise from all NJ experts..

Lyndhurst is a pretty good town, good train access to Hoboken/the city. Can't really comment on the schools as I only know what I've heard which is that they're pretty ok, not the greatest but not the worst really. Maybe look into neighboring towns like Rutherford and East Rutherford as well? They seem to be a bit better in terms of schools. Overall though I think Lyndhurst is a fine town and I wouldn't mind living there myself.

My mom lives in Lyndhurst. I would say it is a quiet town. My mom has a big back yard but most houses are on top of each other. The school district is no good. The taxes are pretty high for a not so great school district. The average price of a house is around $400,000.

They do have some nice town things like a Christmas celebration, fairs, and music in the park.

But if I had to pick a town for my kids to go to school in it would not be there. Rutherford at one point was a blue ribbon school district (elementary) not to sure if it still is. They have some great restaurants.

Although the school system is not top notch, it is middle of the road, not dreadful either. It also has an excellent special needs and fine arts department. Great Rec programs too.
