Well, Christie tried. I'm sure if there was any way he could not pay it, he would. It sort of sounds like they cut a deal if you ask me (500m instead of 1.7 billion which would have really blown the budget).

courts interpret laws, so it must be law already that they are basing their decision on. so i guess the solution is to change the law. gotta get rid of any legislators that would keep wasting money on the abbotts.

I think it was a good decision. An independent group compiled facts for the supreme court that shows Christie's budget cuts disproportionally hurt the poor towns. Will he do the right thing now? probably not. I'm sure he'll deflect this in a way that hurts the poor and middle class even more. Probably cut essential services for those towns so cover the costs and veto anything that covers the cost in a fair and proportional way. Either way, it's a victory to have Christie knocked down a peg.

"Hey guys, how much do you think we can demand before Christie actually pulls the trigger on his threat to ignore us?" asked in a back room.

This IS Jersey.

Why?

We have so many here who crow about how much more educated, sophisticated and worldly we are over other states and this is what we get?

What happened?

I read in the Daily Record that on average NJ spends $18,000 per student.

The Abbotts, $20,000. Twenty grand

Too bad this ruling is not going to help any district but the Abbotts, including lots of other poor towns.

It's the amount that brings the Abbotts up to the level demanded by the formula.

Did u think otherwise. Christie the king and bully has been slapped now by supreme court along with the feds several times and we pay the bills. He'll probably pay his connected lawyers 4 or 5 million in an attempt to fight this like he blew the money on the lawyers for the rail tunnel. His status is sinking in poll after poll because of his cockiness.
