My favorite small town was where I grew up in Bergen....Twp. of Washington.
Ridgewood was my hangout thru my whole life. Have one sister who lives in Franklin Lakes so that is another favorite town of mine, and the other sis lives in Oakland....a nice cushioned community town. Other towns I lived in as an adult was Mahwah, River Vale and Fair lawn was my last before moving here. Fair Lawn I liked because I was close to Rt. 4 and 17, Parkway and 80. Easy access to all in minutes...Oh and also the new Ikea was close along with the GSPlaza on 17 & 4!
And a 20 minute or less drive right down Rt.4 into Manhattan.... with no traffic!

I spoke with different realtors and they suggested springfield, west orange, nutley etc. Basically towns in union county and essex county.

Thanks!
Fair Lawn is close to every major highway...I would suggest the South side of Rt.4 in that town.
closest to the Garden State Plaza Mall.

Talking county and towns

The best counties in New Jersey are sussex- for the forests, bergen- for the shopping and good schools, and ocean- for the beaches and it has Kingda Ka- so mush fun

The best towns then, are Barnegat, Manahawkin, Montvale, Park Ridge, and Branchville

***LBI is awesome, but I hate all the bennys

It's funny - a lot of towns we list as "best towns" have had a lot of folks posting lately saying "GET ME OUT OF HERE I HATE THE PRESSURE AND THE SNOBS!" So it can be 6 of one half a dozen of another.
