Rental in Nutley area (Clifton, Bloomfield: apartment complex, condo, house)

Hello - We are looking for a 2 BR rental for Oct 1 and we have narrowed down on a few towns that make sense in terms of economy, commute, safety etc -- Nutley, Clifton, Bloomfield. What are your thoughts on these choices - safety is the foremost concern with an infant we have (schools not so much yet)! Does anyone have any recommendations for:

(a) nice rental apartments in these towns, may be garden style complexes we can visit on weekends to check
(b) any other towns around the area that are not too far from NYC (w/ 45 mins).

Our budget is around $1400-$1500 for a 2 BR.

Nutley is the nicest of those three. There is also a brand new apartment complex that is very nice (though it's in an industrial-ish area). 1br only but very good size at $1600/mo. We Ikea-ed our 1br so it fits 3 of us perfectly.

We used to live in a garden apt complex in Nutley. We paid $1375 a month for a 2 bedroom/heat and hot water included. And it included 1 parking spot. I LOVED that apt. We moved because we bought a house in Bloomfield.

Nutley is the nicest town. You can go for walks in the park etc. My friends pay 1600 and they rent a condo in Nutley. Its 3 bedroom, new kitchen, large family room downstairs. Everything is updated, its really jnice.
