Christie: I won't OK bill allowing NJ gay marriage
(06/27/11) WASHINGTON (AP) -
Gov. Chris Christie says he won't sign a bill allowing gay marriage in New Jersey like Gov. Andrew Cuomo did in neighboring New York.
Christie appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday, days after Cuomo signed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in New York. Christie told host David Gregory that New Jersey will "continue to pursue civil unions."
"I believe marriage should be between one man and one woman. I am not a fan of same-sex marriage. That's my view and that'll be the view of our state, because I wouldn't sign a bill like the one that was in New York."
if you are going to sanction marriages between homosexuals, then why have the government involved in peoples personal relationships to begin with? i thought the purpose was that we as a country believe that the best way to raise a child/children is a strong family with a father and a mother. so we have marriage and certain benefits to encourage that model.

So I guess widows / divorcees / single parents shouldn't be allowed to raise kids either then....?
But what do government handouts have to do with one's right to marry the person the love?
what does the government have to do with your right to marry the person you love? do you need barack obama (or any government official) to see that you love someone to make it official? what im saying is that the purpose of government taking a position on personal relationships is to encourage two parent heterosexual families as the best way to raise children for the future of our country. if that isnt the case, then there is no need for government to be involved with marriages.

Nothing, but anything to justify an antiquated view on why not everyone deserves the same rights and freedoms just cause they're different from what's "normal".
