And ofcaurse i knew about Newark I was trying to find a cheap place and was looking to see if there was ANY good area at all. And it was'nt bogus. Just cause maybe you can afford to live in a nice area doesn't mean other people can. So how about you stop being so single minded and maybe think about other people's situation.

How about you stop wasting everyone's time here and stop creating fake threads and posting under different Login IDs?
The NJ forum already has enough disinformation agents. Or is it just you kid- using different sign ons?

listen

I came on this website to find out things that I didnt know. Im not sure what your talking about with different names but whatever if you got enough free time on your hands to look into someone elses internet buisness then be my guest. Me on the other hand has a life. Im 22 and was just looking for a place to live that is cheap. Im guessing your not as young as I am and I think its rediculous that you dont have anything better to do with your time then go on a ****in forum where people are just trying to get some help and bash them. The only thing you sound like bashing other people is a loser who has way to much time on his hands.

After reseaching the area of Irvington, I have made my decision that Irvington is where I am going to settle. I was raised in JC; I have raised my own childen in JC till the oldest was 16. We moved to Boonton, NJ which is a very beautiful town. (scary but beautiful; it was scary because it was too dark; and there weren't any people outside after 7-8pm.) However, we then move to Linden, NJ for 2 years which was OK...but they had to many political issues. So; I decided to move to Florida for 4 years, first to Jacksonville; then to Orlando. I made the move to Orlando because I needed to be around more Northerns. Jacksonville was very lonly and the people were not that friendly. (It was culture stuck!!!!) I got tired of Florida, because of the weather and job opportunities. I then moved to Elizabeth, NJ and realized I needed to live in a place that people will say Good Morning! How are you? Do you have any change? I LOVE IT HERE...I FEEL ACCEPTED JUST FOR WHO I AM AND NOT FOR WHO YOU PRESUME I AM TO BE. Yes I am PR and my childen who are grown are black. I am single and I am not afaid because there are a lot of good people in this town who are taught manners and respect, even the little kids said: "WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD"...Just be careful what block you move to

Hello, I'm new on the forum and I need some advice. Originally from NY (Queens) went through divorce 5 yrs ago & was financially wiped out (had to live out of my car for 2 weeks); couldn't afford to stay in NY. Borrowed $7K from a dear friend & moved to Trenton where I could get a 3bdrm house with a garage and a mortgage of $600/mo instead of paying $1,000/mo for a 2-room basement in Kew Gardens. However, it's been 3 years and I'm miserable here and want to move back to NY, but still can't afford it. Now that the housing market has dropped, I will walk away with only $15K from the sale of this house (no one wants to move to Trenton, but I'm a single blonde & I've survived!) Sometimes you're in a situation where you have to do what works at that time.
So, here I am again looking to move back north & the only affordable (HA!) area I can find is Irvington, NJ. I'm looking at a 4bdrm/2ba house for $235K--still WAY out of my price range, but I figure if I get a roommie, that will reduce my monthly costs. Plus, I have greater job opportunities in the N. Jersey/NYC area than I do down here in Mercer County. I was looking to rent initially, but to get a 2 bdrm apt would cost as much as making a mortgage payment and I wouldn't have the privacy or as much room as I can have with a SFH. Plus, I have 2 cats and trying to find a place that will allow me to keep my "babies" is next to impossible as well.
Can anyone advise me about Irvington? I know it's next to Newark which is going through a revitalization. I also realize it is considered a "rough" area, but coming from Trenton, I don't know if it is considered worse or better than this area. I have had my windows broken, my house egged, my car "keyed", my garage broken into, and items stolen from my property here...but I take that with a grain of salt because I realize the area this is. I'm still alive to talk about it! And I don't go out at night.
My long-term thinking is that even if I can get this house & stay 2-3 years, it will still appreciate in value considering it's approximation to NYC.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

If you don't need 4 br
I just checked the mls and there are a lot of
2br homes for about the same amount in linden and rahway

It sounds to me you want to make your living situation better not keep it the same or make it worse

Smile Irvington

I have lived in Irvington since 1996. I am a professional and I have a very nice private house and fency car. I do not like the school system in Irvington and I pay a lot of money for private school for my child but It is not the way you people describe it. I also own business property in Irvington and my apartments are rented very fast and my area is not as you guys describe it. I work rotation shifts. I enter my house any time. Just to let you know that Irvington has high risk area but it is not every where in Irvington as you all said. If one day I would moved from Irvington . It would not be because I feel endanger but because of: the way people talk about the township that make me uncomfortable.
