Is there any chance this doesn't happen? I'm guessing we see at least a few weeks of shutdown.

It doesn't look escapable at this point. I think the bipartisan goodwill got spent on the pension/benefits reform. The Dems are now in a position to redeem themselves to their primary constituency and I think they will fight tooth and nail over the budget.

it wasnt that long ago that obama submitted his budget and the republicans said they would make cuts from it. i think they wanted 100 billion then it got knocked down to like 30 billion in cuts and then when all was said and done it amounted to nothing cut from the obama budget.

There is no chance that government will shutdown. It is just a show. Close they, they are having wines and cigars and laughing at the public that believe something will come from these clowns.

yeah, im pretty sure they all know they will end up increase the debt limit. but the politicians like to negotiate and try to win themselves money and favors.

btw, this wouldnt be a shutdown the government would just be forced to spend only what it takes in. i would not vote for any republican that votes to increase the debt limit.

Deja Vu, the same thing happened a few years ago when Corzine was governor. Essential services will still be provided. It's all a chess game for politicians, both sides of the aisle. They pander to their voting blocs. It works both ways.

Clearly I don't understand how this works. So the Governor was presented with a budget. He made a bunch of changes to it and then signed it. Does it not have to go back to the legislature?
