Default The Jersey Shore -

Anyone aware of any NJ beaches that exhibit an older, more mature, classy, polished & sophisticated crowd ?

My friends and I are in our early 40s, and have been going to Point Pleasant Beach the last few years. We rent a house down on Ocean avenue and when we don't hang out in the backyard, we go to Martell's Tiki Bar, however, it seems to have gotten awfully young this year- or we're just getting old .... haaa !!!

We're looking for a new spot to relax, hang-out indulge in cocktails, and socialize with those our age ....

Suggestions ?? No cracks, I like Montauk and the Hamptons, but it's a hike for only a short stay ...

why don't you try "Pier Village" in Long Branch. High end restaurants, nice beach and more sophisticated. The restaurant called Avenue, I hear turns into an upscale nightclub in the evenings.

Or just up from Pier Village, next to the Ocean Place Resort--don't know the name of the bar/restaurant but they have an outdoor bar, a happy hour, usually some kind of music, and it's not all fetuses. It's near Madison Avenue in Long Branch, by the beach with the palm trees.

I heard that also ... Maybe I'll check it out, as the hotels in Long Branch are all over 364.00 A NIGHT .... OUCH !

I don't want to go down for the day, drink, and worry about driving ... Not worth it ... I'd rather go for a weekend.

Take the train , all beach towns from Bay Head to Red Bank have Train Access. And they have deals if you take the train , like Hotel , Dining and beach admission discounts.

Definitely is. Last week I had to park about 5 blocks away on a weeknight, it was crowded and popular. Southside Johnny was doing a concert at the summer stage at the Pony, but even if you just go around the boardwalk a few blocks either way many people where enjoying the performance.

Geez, sounds like you could buy a house somewhere around that town for what you'd spend on a weeks rent.
