I'm looking to do some home renovation work. My nephews who live in Georgia are licensed contractors in Georgia and Florida, and one is a general contractor.

Do they have to be licensed in NJ to do the work for me? Is there a reciprocal program where they could just file some paperwork instead of taking an entire test, etc. Will they be able to pull permits? Do these rules vary by county, municipality? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

You'll have to call your municipal/borough office to get the right information for your needs. In my town, contractors do have to be registered with the borough before doing any work and once registered, can also get permits.
