im plannig a family gathering for maybe 60-70 people, ive been searching for a nice family park that has picnic area (have own grills)that also can accomodate children with play area swimming maybe even trails.Ilive in central nj iwas looking at some of the shore areas but a lot of them dont have picnic areas, i would prefer a STATE PARK like CHEESEQUAKE,but any other ideas are welcomed.I am planning this event for late August,i would appreciate any help. I had to arrange a group picnic about 6 years ago and have some basic info on a spreadsheet - if you send me an e-mail address i can send it to you. I couldn't figure out how to upload an Excel file.

Not really central NJ, but Lewis Morris Park would be a good choice. It's at the south end of Morristown, close to Mendham.

I tried to attach the file as a Zip with the Excel file inside of it. Hopefully it works - I summarized the park features, fees and phone numbers.

We did a similar picnic this year in Ringwood State Park, it went great!

We did it in the Shepard Lake section, there are plenty of tables and grills to accomodate your group, but you cannot resserve table so you have get there early. There is a beach area for swimming a dock you can fish off and boat rentals (row boats, kayaks, paddle boats) there is also a fairly easy hiking trail, an open field and a play ground. It's $10 per carload to enter the park.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for since it's not a state park nor south Jersey, but Forest Lodge in Warren would fit most of your criteria. They have pools, picnic areas, organized games if you want and has good food too but they provide the food in the package. Prices vary for the foods selected and organized activities, number of people etc. Not sure if they will let you "bring your own" though. It's a very pretty location with lots of trees and fields.

I arranged many picnics there for my job and the staff are excellent to deal with and very friendly.

It's not a state park, but the Atlantic Club in Wall is where we had ours. It was great! Good luck!
