River Vale is a very nice place to live. There is not much of a downtown but there is a community sense. The school is the best Pascack Valley system and you can't beat it in NJ. Nice homes, big properties, very affluent. Go for it!!!

River Vale is also going thru a lot of changes. They are really in the fixing up mode, big house however BEWARE of the home you buy, some areas anything by the Hackensack River or Poplar Ave is prone to BAD and I mean BAD flooding. However do not let this stop you, just do not buy in the flood areas or ask about flooding. There are some great houses that do not have this problem. The changes in River Vale are good, and I do not see an attitude with RiverVale moms like other Bergen County towns. I live in the next town Hillsdale. Its a great choice, I am not fooling, I think values in River vale will go up do to big lot sizes.

There are plenty of Jewish people in River Vale. They just build a huge and nice Jewish home or complex or the seniors. You dont have a temple you can walk to but plenty of Jewish people in River Vale. I think you will be very happy. They are not racist either. THe schools are very much Jewish and I think you will make tons of friends and have a great live in a nice suburb of one of bergens upper class towns.

River Vale is nice but as with many Bergen County towns the taxes are extremely high. Bergen County recently had a reassessment and many homeowners have seen there taxes double or worse. You'll see for sale signs on nearly every block around Bergen County as people are fleeing in droves.
