Did I miss James Gandofini? He even went to Rutgers.

Walt Whitman, arguably one of the greatest American poets - Camden

Uncle Floyd Vivino - Paterson I think

Bebe Nuewirth (sp?) - Princeton

Trey Anastasio of Phish - Princeton (Went to Princeton Day School)

Robert Randolph of Robert Randolph and the Family Band - East Orange (I think he now lives in Morristown-I've seen him at the Famished Frog a few times)

Tom Guiry - Trenton - Tom played "Smalls" in The Sandlot and has been a bunch of stuff since then including the short lived but reasonably good "The Black Donnellys" on NBC. TRENTON IRISH PRIDE!!!

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito - Trenton/Hamilton (Moved to Caldwell later in life)

Ethan Hawke - West Windsor

David Dinkins - Trenton (Don't know how proud I am of that)

Charlie Weis (Former Notre Dame Coach) - Trenton

Default Irivington can claim Jerry Lewis too

Great thread, folks, lots of fun!

Several have mentioned Jerry Lewis--though born in Newark, at early age family moved to Irvington where he grew up and went to Irvington High (tho never graduated).

Sorry, don't have the source, but remember Lewis telling story that on a visit with Irvington "officialdom" shortly after getting famous--Lewis said at grade school the teacher called up to the front of the class all students being promoted to the next grade, until finally only one student was sitting at his desk--him! Apparently school people promised to stop the practice (if it even was still going on).

Here is a source on his NJ beginnings:

International Dictionary of Film and Filmmakers
Nationality: American. Born: Joseph Levitch in Newark, New Jersey, 16 March 1926. Education: Attended Irvington High School, Irvington, New Jersey.

Hey...Hey...Don't be giving Lucky Lindy to Flemington now. Hopewell, pardner.

There was a ballplayer who had a pretty long career in the pros as a utility/bench guy named Steve Braun who went to Hopewell Valley Central High. If I remember right, he was born in Trenton.

Also Troy Vincent, former NFL DB who played at Trenton.

Oh my God. Tia Carrere is not a porn star. How dare you? I hope she is not up in Canada right now reading this. At least lets hope she has a sense of humor.
