I didn't read through every post. There are a bunch of musicians from New Jersey that I'm not sure anyone mentioned:

Count Basie (jazz pianist and band leader) - Red Bank
Clint Black (country musician) - Long Branch (but really grew up in Texas)
George Clinton (of Parliament/Funkadelic fame) - not born in Jersey but grew up in Plainfield (other members of P-Funk were also from Plainfield and surrounding areas)
Glenn Danzig (founder of The Misfits; also had a solo career) - Lodi
Al Di Meola (jazz guitarist) - Jersey City, now lives in Old Tappan
Randy Edelman (film and television composer) - Paterson
Bill Evans (jazz pianist) - Plainfield
Lesley Gore (60s pop singer) - born in NYC, but raised in Tenafly
Nona Hendryx (part of Labelle; went on to solo career, acting, etc.) - Trenton
Lauryn Hill (currently popular singer) - South Orange
Adam Horovitz (part of The Beastie Boys) - South Orange
Whitney Houston (probably everyone knows her) - Newark
Ice T (rapper and actor) - Newark
John Lyon (aka "Southside Johnny") ("blue-eyed soul" singer) - Neptune
Christina Milian (currently popular singer and actress) - Jersey City
Tony Mottola (guitarist, orchestrator/arranger and composer, worked with Sinatra, Perry Como, etc.) - Kearny
Ricky Nelson (singer first famous in the 50s/early 60s) - Teaneck
Redman (rapper) - Newark
Nelson Riddle (bandleader, composer, orchestrator/arranger) - Oradell
Paul Simon (popular from the 60s to now as a solo artist and part of Simon & Garfunkel) - Newark
Frankie Valli (how could a Jerseyite not know him?) - Newark
Sarah Vaughan (jazz singer) - Newark

Also, rather than being from New Jersey and moving away, there are some rich and famous musicians who weren't from here and decided to move here later, including Peter Criss, the drummer of Kiss, who now lives in Wall.

I think most of the ones I knew were covered. The only ones I didn't see were the memebers of Jodeci (R&B Group) they were from Englewood.

Just a minor correction:

Bruce Springsteen was from Freehold. Later, he hung out in Asbury Park and Belmar. The E street band was named after a street in either Belmar or South Belmar (Can't remember...going on memory)

Now he lives in Rumson.
