I grew up in Little Egg Harbor also known as Mystic Island. The people that live there year round DO NOT want you webs (Week End Bastard's) coming there for vacation. The ONLY people that are happy to see you are the business owners. You drive up the price's on EVERYTHING, yes I said EVERYTHING. Not to mention all of you are rude and act like you own the place when you DO NOT!!!!!!!!

ah, the old bennie argument.
the reality of it is:
shore - bennies = deal, loveladies, stone harbor, etc.
you can either live by the beach year round and deal with the traffic, or just visit in the summer like the everyone else. Unless, of course, you are phenomenally wealthy - in which case you can have the best of both worlds.

Well it depends what you want..If you have young children you would probably like Wildwood...Long Beach Island is nice too...if you are a couple.
I still like Spring Lake...I love that town...nice beach, nice families...and I
think you could probably find some Irish music there.....I know they used to
call it the Irish Riviera....I don't care for Seaside, kind of sleezy in my opinion.
Point Pleasant is nice for young families...some rides for the kids, not as noisy
as Seaside.....Ortley Beach and Lavalette are nice too.....

I understand your frustration, but you need a reality check. I also live at the shore, and there would be no local economy without the influx of tourists in the summer. Unfortunately, there are no other substantial industries in place to bring money into the area.
It is a fact of life at the shore. Oh well...
As far as great shore vacation towns - Avalon is great. New restaurants, total town center renovation - great town for a family vacation. Stone Harbor is beautiful - it's fun to ride bikes and look at the houses. (What do these people do for a living that these are their vacation homes!? I wanna do that too!)
Cape May is beautiful, sunset on the point is spectacular (the Merion Inn in Cape May is one of our favorite restaurants), can't beat the gigantic beach in Wildwood (although Wildwood deserves it's name and get wild at night! ), Sea Isle City is a nice family town (O'Donnells Pour House is a wonderful Irish restaurant - very authentic & they do play Irish music). The Ocean City boardwalk is a Jersey Shore Classic.

Other than that...can't say much about my opinion of the Jersey Shore other than it was wonderful...once.

OMG. The New Hampshire seacoast is nasty. The Jersey Shore is amazing, especially the South Jersey Shore. Ocean City, New Jersey is the most family friendly resort. Great boardwalk, good housing, no alcohol. Ventnor, Margate, and Longport cater to a more upscale Philadelphia crowd, closer to Philly and right next to Atlantic City. Brigantine is north of Atlantic City. The towns around Atlantic City are less rustic, but beautiful none-the-less, with beach front mansions and tons of nice options for more modest summer digs. All of the concerts, shopping, gaming, and golfing are nearby. Margate and Ventnor have municipal tennis courts, playgrounds, and basketball courts.
Avalon and Stone Harbor are quite elegant, with many large homes right on the shore. The towns are more laid back than AC area towns. Wildwood is a nice destination, but has the typical Jersey Shore image. The Boardwalk is trashy but fun, with great amusements.
Cape May is like a journey into the past. Relazed and beautiful. Also family friendly, but may be a bit too relaxed for some people.
Summer weekends in Atlantic City are a wild and fun time. Lots of great food, entertainment, nightlife (but make reservations and plan ahead for all entertainment options). Check www.acweekly.com

Point Pleasant is nice for young families???
Well, not on Memorial Day weekend it isn’t.
Let’s see, where can I start:
· Terrible parking
· Crowded boardwalk
· Insane prices
· Ridiculously long lines at the rides
· Drunk college kids and assorted trashy individuals everywhere
I know most places down the shore “change” a bit on the three big weekends (MD, July 4, LD), but this was worse than I ever remember Seaside being.
Next time I’ll just bite the bullet and drive the extra hour to Wildwood.
