Personally, I love the Cape May / Wildwood areas. There's much to do and the beachs are clean. It's a great area to bring the kids.

The boardwalk speaks for itself. "Watch the Tram Car... Watch, watch the tram car, please."

(It's not a cheap vacation though!)

Point Pleasant if you're bringing kids. Cape May if it's just adults.

Nothing is cheap anymore....especially if you have kids. But Pt. Pleasant is reasonable (Tuesdays they run a special for kids rides - All Day Ticket)

We went to Spring Lake but couldn't find an actual town.

Even though Seaside gets a bad rap from the MTV show "Jersey Shore", I think it is a lot of fun. Lots of families go there, and the beaches are surprisingly clean. Lots of people from northern Jersey, and Staten Island come here. Just avoid boulevard at the wee hours of the morning, because a majority of the nightclubs in Seaside are there, and it can get sketchy with all the drunk college kids stumbling around.

I also like Surf City, Ocean City, and Point Pleasant

Manasquan is great for families or just a quiet vacation.

Seaside Heights, Asbury Park, Atlantic City, Long Branch, or Wildwood if your into crazy.
