Less. Taxes and fees paid by drivers cover not only roads, but much of public transit as well. There's some part of road costs covered by general taxes, but they're largely paid by drivers too.
i have noticed that suggesting drivers are also subsidized has become an act of desperation by people who are trying to support continued subsidization of public transit. i havent found that to have much credibility.

Every Format of public infastrature is subsidized , people don't pay the full cost of Roads , why should Rail or Bus Commuters be forced to pay the full cost of our commutes? They don't subsidize the roads over in Europe or Asia they turn profits on them , same with Newer transit systems... We could always have a payroll Tax like NY has for supporting there Transit system but we don't....yet.... 1.8 Million use Transit in NJ and that grew from 650,000 back in the 90s , but that doesn't mean it should or would turn a profit , we have neglected alot of infrastructure to the point of that not happening....so then you have Toll and Fare hikes like these to cover that... Christie might hike Tolls and split the revenue between the DOT and NJT.
if people dont want to pay the price of it then maybe it isnt worth having. maybe the jobs dont have to be concentrated in the city. its funny how something becomes subsidized and then its like there is no other way to do it. well, if this wasnt subsidized things would have happened differently and life would have gone on. but now we are apparently stuck subsidizing something that users arent willing to pay the actual cost of.
It would be a lot worse if the jobs weren't concentrated in the city. You'd have sprawl and traffic jams galore, and the region would be much less healthier.

Yeah, but transit users pay taxes as well. I'm sure the working professionals who choose to live near the PATH are paying a lot of money in taxes.
