I don't really go to outlets much, but I hear Secaucus has some good ones.

Talking Jackson

The Jackson Premium Outlets are VERY good

Their website offers a VIP Shoppers Club for extra coupons & voucher for a FREE coupon book ($5 reg. price) redeemable at their management office.

Thanks! I used to shop at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, NY (they are the best) but that is just too far for me now.

I keep hearing mixed reviews about the outlets in Jersey so I don't know which one to go to. I have to go shopping for my kiddies. They seem to be growing by the minute.

Jackson is delightful. Exit 16 off Route 195.

Cranbury has outlets scattered about...I don't know them all but I just discovered the Lenox warehouse outlet, which had deep discounts, and I think there is a Crate and Barrel. I don't see the excitement @ the Jackson outlets, the prices seem the same as department store prices.

See that's the thing with the outlets. They call themselves outlets but then they charge regular department store prices! What the heck is that all about? I'd hate to take a one hour trip to a place and then have it turn out to be all for nothing because they don't have enough discounts. That's why I posted this question. I wanted to know what outlets you guys thought has the best deals so I don't waste my time going to the expensive outlets. When I get to an outlet, I'll post here again and let you know what I think.

Thanks for all your help.

PS. Expensive Outlet - Is this an oxymoron?

I like Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth (and, if you are interested, IKEA is 5 min drive from the mall). You can find very good deals there. And they have outlets. I buy all my son's shoes at the Stride Ride outlet there and I never pay more that $30 for a pair of shoes (stride ride retails for about $60-$70 for a regular pair of shoes)

But for TRUE outlets with 50-70% off retail price, I would suggest going to Woodbury Commons. Its upstate NY, right off NY Thruway. Its not too far and its worth the trip. They have very upscale stores with unbelievable prices. Not everything is cheap because when you take 50% off a Coach bag (they have Coach outlet, I love it), you still end up paying $500. Overall, its a great place to shop.

Default Specific items

OK - you want specifics? Here goes: Stride rite shoes for toddlers. The first walkers shoes in the store are (were) $42 and in the Jackson outlet Stride rite they are (were) $20. Same shoe just last years model. Can you believe it? Also, Carters clothes. One piece sleepers. $15 at Kohls. AT Jackson outlets, $7. I should have wrote all of this down in my first post - sorry it slipped my mind. The Ralph Lauren Polo store is amazing too. Shirts on sale for $30 that were $60. Plus if you get the VIP coupons plus the online coupons, you're good as gold ! Happy shopping in Jackson NJ !!

I go to The Crossings outlet up in PA. Take Rt 80 W into Pa and then follow it for about 15 minutes. It's a great day trip, the outlet prices are very good, and just a nice overall atmosphere to the place. Very easy to locate an individual store. I find Woodbury Commons too confusing, having built itself up over the years to different clusters of stores facing their own courtyards. It's confusing, whereas The Crossings is easy to navigate. Stop at the information kiosk, show your AAA card, and get a discount brochure that can save you up to 25%. I went shopping with my son's girlfriend and her mother, and they saved 25% at the Gap outlet. They spent a lot to qualify (I think it was $150) , you get a smaller discount if you are only buying a few things. Most of the stores participate. Napo
