EBWick's point is this: even with the lanes into the tunnel, there are still the potential for backups and delays on the NJTPK even with the "bus only" lanes. I've been on enough buses from the Park&Ride in South Brunswick and the one in East Brunswick to have first hand experience sitting in an idling bus in the bus lane.
To the OP: 50 minutes to an hour may be correct on great days from the Park&Ride to the PA. But do not presume that time frame is valid from the door of your house to your desk. Depending on where you live in East Brunswick and where your job is in Manhattan, a typical commute is going to be, on average, an hour and 10 mins. to an hour and a half.
Hi, I am moving to East Brunswick with a family in September and need advice on NYC commute. Our home is very near Stop & Shop on Route 18 South, and I know there is a bus stop near Arthur St. I know BUs138 stops there, but after my brief research I noticed it only does so once every hour and only early AM. Isn't there a PM service as well? What about Coach? WHere are the stops, where Coach buses leave from?
Thanks a lot for help
I am looking to buy in East Brunswick and see that the commute is 50 by bus. Is this accurate? or does it take longer?
Hello,
As a Realtor in the East Brunswick area it takes about 50 minutes to NYC. East Brunswick is a great choice since you have the Bus Depot (a.k.a. Golden Triangle) near Tices Lane and Route 18 and the other bus depot is at the Towers next to Exit 9 of the Turnpike. Then there is the NJ Transit train station in New Brunswick which is just a few miles down the road and with the recent widening of Route 18 through that part of New Brunswick it makes the commute easier or you can go through Douglas Campus and jump on Route 18 and avoid the traffic congestion between Naricon Place (Towers) and Paulus Blvd.
