that's a good point, though i notice occasionally even one-bedroom apartments in those dumpy neighborhoods going for a thousand a month and up. what a joke.

Trenton and Asbury Park are no where near the worst towns to live in, in NJ. They are definitely not the best but there are places that are far, far worse. I'd rather walk through the worst section of Asbury at 12midnight than the best section of Camden at noon.

How sad to read here than my hometown, Clifton, is now considered an undesirable area. WTF? How things change in 20 years. When I left, Clifton schools were among the best in the state, taxes were kept low, there were VERY few bad areas of town. Generally the areas that directly bordered Paterson and Passaic were lower income areas, and Delawanna was lower middle class, but the town was clean, clean clean. How could you guys let this happen?

i can't believe clifton is one of THE WORST® towns in NJ, when you got places like Newark and Camdem. It's silly. Clifton is not that bad.

what do you mean in the bolded sentence? i don't think the posters on this forum have "let" anything happen.

not all the towns posted are bad areas.. most people in this forum exagerate.. anything that's heavily populated they consider bad.. that's the reason why postings on this forum is not realiable facts.. anyone that is really concern with an area should visit the area before moving and not follow comments from this site as many comments here are comming from people who never lived in city like neighborhoods..

While Clifton may not be in the class of Camden or Newark it is certainly not a great place to live any more. Many areas of Clifton ARE unsafe and I personally know many former residents who have moved away due to the quality of life in Clifton going down the drain. It's approaching the condition Passaic was about 20 years ago. I also remember when Clifton was a nice place to live but that's a distant memory.

Newark (worked there, very few "nice" areas) However, the Ironbound section or as some say, "Down Neck" is fine.

Jersey City- ( I live here...But, Newport and the downtown area are nice. Trump Towers is going up on Washington St. and 1st , people aren't paying 400 thou for a one bed apart to live in a "bad" neighborhood. The Heights are too bad either.)

Union City - (Again, there are problems, but it isn't too bad. I teach in Union City.)

Paterson-( I have only heard bad things about the city, but I am sure there are some exaggerations.)

East Orange

Irvington

Passaic-

Elizabeth

Trenton

Asbury Park

Lakewood

Camden- ( I taught in Camden, and there is really no safe areas of that city.)

Let's not forget Atlantic City. Don't step two feet off the Boardwalk. North Bergen is great!! Ever since they remodeled the Days Inn.
