Default Rockaway - Lake Telemark

I am looking at a home in Lake Telemark and don't know much about the area. I hear good things about the schools in Rockaway, but Telemark seems a little out of the way. Where is the closest shopping center to that area? Are there any strip malls near green pond road? Haven't really gone far north past Telemark Rd.

Any other information about the area and schools would be very welcome.

Thank you.

Dave

I live on Green Pond Rd

I rent and wish I can buy. I love this area. Strip mall? How about the Rockaway mall. There is a lake or three hidden in the woods. Split Rock reservoir is a gem. There are hiking trails a plenty. Only bad part of the area is the simple fact that if Good to Go Deli doesnt have it you are going to drive a while to get something. This is the type of area where everyone knows one another. I hope u realize that Telemark is a huge Norwegian pop. Including a Comm. center for it.

Thank you very much Maharg. We finally bought out home in the Telemark community. So far we are very happy here. We have made some friends in the neighrbood, but I imagine we'll meet more in the spring and summer since it is too cold to be outside right now.

Telemark is a very nice place to live; we went to skill in that nearby Mountain Creek resort last year, very nice during winter time ...

sorry for the month late reply! Yes thier are many trails off Green Pond Rd. Click on Rockaway's details and look at the pics of Split Rock Reservior. It is the gem of North Jersey and open to the public (altho the public is trying to ruin it) There are plenty of trails and trails around the lake. They say its 14-15 miles just to do the walk around the lake. Just come on up to Green Pond rd but email me first and ill steer u in the right direction!

I consider myself an urbanite, but am seriously considering moving to either Rockaway or one of the Roxbury towns, but the lack of convenience you allude to would be a deal-breaker for me...

Rockaway has a mall. A huge target, a decent Walmart, a Costco etc. Its not THAT FAR out.

Never im my life have I seen so many mallrats at a mall tho! Friday night >8PM... HOLY....!

The kids actually seem OK. Yes they are teenagers, loud and boisterous, but dont seem menacing etc.

Roxbury has everything within 5 to 8 miles. over a dozen chain restaurants probably over 30 restaurants under 5 miles. You name it they have it. I honestly think the roxbury area has more shopping and stores then the Parsippany area.

Lake telemark is slightly more obscure.

Roxbury area is very similar to the parsippany area in density just doesn't have all the corporate centers. Except for the Mount olive ITC.

I think the Rockaways are nicer than the roxbury towns and your 15 miles closer to NYC. Morris Knolls school is very good. Both good towns.
