where are the best beaches to find sea glass. I have tried Sandy Hook. No luck, not a piece of glass to be found anywhere. I have found a beach but I am picking it clean.

Glass that has been worn smooth and polished from being in the sea. Originally probably from garbage or dumped there, but people collect it and sometimes make jewelry or decorative items from it, or just collect it and display it in a nice jar or dish.

I have one small white piece I found this summer on the beach at Long Branch. I really wasn't looking for it--I was actually looking for smooth rocks to put in my garden, but I came across this little piece and I'm hanging onto it. My daughter's bf does wire-wrapped jewelry, and I'm thinking he can make a pendant out of it for me.

Find out where they are replenishing the beaches with sand pumped from off shore. That's probably your best bet.

I have a few pounds of sea glass that I have collected over the years. Sea glass was very easy to find in the 60's, 70's and 80's. It was mostly broken soda and beer bottles that have been eroded from being in the salt water for a very long time.

Brown, green and clear glass was very common, since they were probably from the soda and beer bottles. Blue and red glass is rare. I some blue but only one red piece of glass.

I didn't think of that, but you're right!

Are shark teeth harder to find than sea glass? I have one piece of sea glass and have never found any shark teeth.

I was down in South Carolina once and they had a tropical storm the week before. All over the place. go in the water, scoop some sand with your hand and you would find a shark tooth pretty frequently. Scooped up at least 10 in a couple days hardly looking too much.

There's a Sea Glass convention in Long Branch tomorrow. You'll find plenty of it there.
