Where in Burlington County?
My husband and I are retired and presently living in Ocean County. We'd like to move to a more rural area....would like to have more land than we presently have.....but also want to be near shopping and not too far from the shore. We're considering Burlington County......maybe Medford, Southampton, Shamong?? Any thoughts on these cities.......or any other suggestions on other cities, or another county? Thanks for any input.

Medford and Shamong are very rural and there is not much shopping at all. A lot of woods and very quiet and secluded. I would recommend Mt Laurel. It is not very expensive, near good shopping, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. You can get a lot of land with a nice new home too. Near shore.

Have you tried looking into Gloucester County? There are many towns that give you land and still close to shopping and not too far from the shore....
I agree with the above post, there are not to many shops in those towns and others towns in Burlington county are not too nice.

Burlington County is pretty rural overall because it us built up like central NJ locations. If you like this then I would say to look into the county. Burlington the town is a good place to look into. It is pretty built up but there is really nothing to do in the neighboring towns.

Medford floods and Mt.Laurel is getting congested...try Atlantic or Cape May counties,they're less populated and cheaper than Ocean and still have the shore. Mays Landing for example is like some places in Ocean county. |

I lived in Southampton and LOVED it. Being a rural town no one really knows about has it's advantages. You get used to not being on top of the Mall.
Plus you get a lot more land. Southampton was 44 sq miles, 10,000 people. 1 school. That was the best. You knew everyone like a small town.
I miss it.
