Any towns close to the city? Or are all the nice towns farther? Do you think towns with less commuters have a better community? Towns with a little more or less money? Blue collar working towns? Which towns have newcomers groups? Beach towns vs. the west area? In general, which NJ town would you live in for the rest of your life? .... Any thoughts?? Thanks!
Highland Park is almost Stepford Wives in its perfect little friendliness, kids playing stickball in the streets, flying kites in the park, everyone says hi to everyone, there's a street fair downtown every weekend (or so it seems). I'd live there in a heartbeat if I could afford to buy, but the landlords (of houses, I don't mean apt. complexes) can be super sketchy. Once just before I moved away, I was out for a walk and passed by the aforementioned kids playing stickball in the street/sidewalk, and not only did they get off the sidewalk into their yard so I could pass, and not only did they say "Excuse me, ma'am," but one of them actually tipped his baseball cap at me when he said it. That's the sort of town it is.

You know, I used to hear about kids that polite when I was in Pennsylvania. Typically they were escapees from St. Gabriels Hall (a reform school).
Everyone in Jersey is friendly. We're so ****ing friendly it oozes from our very pores.
don't know about that. some towns let you know that you're not wanted like scotch plains and millburn, which is why i don't go over those parts unless i have to.
