Hello,

I'm moving fron CA to NJ/Morris county. We found a rental single family home in parsippany lake area which otherwise looks ok, but I would like to know more about the immidiate neighborhood (periphery around Pppany lake i.e. rectangle between Littleton, 287/parsippany rd, 80 & Sylvan way). We have young kids, and schools & safety are imp factors.

I went about the area only once, but in night and didn't really get a clear picture. I don't go to the area until 2 wks from now, but need to decide on a Florham park apt before that, and wasn't sure if this house/area is worth it to postpone apartment decision (and risk loosing that too).

Thanks,
Pro

If my only two options were Parsippany and Florham Park, I'd go with Florham Park in a heartbeat - quieter community and much better schools. If you can tell us your requirements and the general location of where you'll be working, etc, we can give you more detailed guidance. (see the sticky post for those moving to the area located at the top of the page in this forum)

I'd go with Florham Park as well. Not only for the schools, but there are some absolutely beautiful apartments in town!

One other piece of advice I can give you. Parsippany has a LOT of rentals. So many, that it's almost impossible for them to forward your mail, once you do decide to move. I know this from experience, living in the Lake Hiawatha section for a couple of years. My mail simply was not getting forwarded, despite that I filled out the form - twice!
