You may not, but you may. My house got hit with a hail storm sometime ago. I did not file a claim for many months. For months I heard and seen several houses being worked on all around me and gathered it was damage done by the hail storm. I had an inspector check out my house and he found several dents on the roof and siding. A check of $19,500 was soon provided to me by Alstate in which I repaired the house. The passage of time may have been less than a year but not by much. Still it would not hurt to check out the policy.
