The funny thing is, it's right in the city limits of Paterson. People don't want to get lost there with the bad roads and traffic and ugly areas. This park needs a lot of work though, the fall is pretty but setting is not.

It's easiest to get there from West Pat, if you don't want to drive through the streets of Paterson.

If most of the park does need work, then federal status and federal funds would be a real blessing for the place.

Looking at more articles on the web...it appears that this new status will provide the park with an additional 450,000 USD. It should be up and running by the park service within 2 or 3 years.

You do realize that the state has to sign over the land to the federal government.

Yes, but why won't the state do so?

A pretty amazing place and somewhere you should check out if you have never been.
Agreed, the area itself is serene but I think the surround is a bit gritty. I would hope they develop the adjacent city areas before they make any real changes to the park itself (other than cleanup/maintenance)

I grew up in East Paterson and I'm ashamed to say neither myself, nor anyone I know, has ever been to The Falls once.
