Has anyone had a problem of receiving late notices for tickets they were (never) issued by Montclair?

I got a ticket + a late fee notice for an infraction that happened about 3 weeks ago. No ticket left on my windshield or door-handle. Obviously, it's impossible to fight. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen in Montclair 'coz I know that city's cash-strapped vis-a-vis ticket happy.

That's weird that you not only didn't get the original ticket, but recieved a late fee so quick. I have paid several of my tickets late and theres always a grace period.
If you can, fight it in court, the new judge in Montclair is very nice and lets petty stuff like that go all the time. You might have a chance, but if you lose, you'll have to pay the fee and $33 court costs.

SAS, that's why I was so surprised. I thought to myself, "This ticket was supposedly issued on October 15 and it's already "late?"

Ehh, I have no time to spend waiting around in court, so I paid it.

After thinking about it, I just remembered Montclair is practically going bankrupt, they're doing everything they could to raise funds.
The most recent ticket I got was at the bloomfield train station and it was $5.00 cheaper than montclair tickets. Also a longer pay period, but all tickets use that same MCdirect website. Bloomfield never sent me a late notice and even though I paid it late, I recieved a grace period with no problem. Better be real careful about parking in Montclair next time.
Now every street has like 1-4 hour parking and all train stations and businesses have meters, so you almost always have to pay. No more overnight courtsey parking either, now you have to buy a $5 permit.

Watch around Bloomfield station. They ticket the living hell out of it but I never recieved a ticket that I did not deserve. Look out for signs they are EVERYWHERE!

Yeah and the ticket agents WALK on foot and check the meters over and over. I will never park there again.

At least it's better than trying to find parking in Morristown....
