I've got an onsite visit for a client in Fort Lee. I live in Union, just minutes off the Parkway.

I'm curious as to the best way to get to Fort Lee assuming normal AM traffic. I need to be at the client location at or before 8 AM.

I was going to take the Parkway to 280 then 280 to 21 North, than 80 East - but I could very much see the traffic being deadly. Am I better off just going up the Turnpike all the way? Or try for the Turnpike Eastern Spur to 46 in the Ridgefields area, then head in that way?

78 to garden state parkway to route 4. Route 4 takes you right into Fort Lee, although I don't know what the GWB traffic is like at that time. It might be a few miles longer, but maybe on the parkways you avoid more NYC traffic.
Check out the route on google maps and input the addresses and you'll see different routes.

Sounds like a workable plan. I did futz around a little with Google Maps; my concerns are just the major arterial traffic: Parkway, Turnpike Western and Eastern Spur, 3 to 17, or just going across 46 or 80.

Open to experiences/warnings/cautions/etc.

Not good. when I travel back and forth to NJ, I make sure I'm over the GWB by 5:30AM or I get struck in traffic.

GWB will be backed up.

Take the Turnpike to the exit for Route 46 that says "The Ridgefields". You want to lean right on the exit and go 46 East. Once you're on 46, drive about a mile or so and look for signs for the exit for Main Street in Fort Lee. I believe it's just past a gas station, and you have to keep your eyes peeled for it. The exit looks as if you are just going onto some short little street, but at the stop sign at the end of the short little street, you make a left, and you'll go about one block and hit a traffic light. That's Main Street in Fort Lee. You'll want to make a right there, and then go to wherever you have to go.

I've had to go to Fort Lee a number of times to pick up my daughter and a few times got caught in that godawful bridge traffic until my ex-husband cued me in to using 46 East instead.

That sounds good. I can't believe the GWB is already jammed at 530am

MightyQueen is correct. Taking 46 East off Turnpike is the best way. Then exit to Main St.

GWB is crowded starting around 7:00am. My wife takes the GWB around 6:30am and there is not much traffic at that time.

PS. Taking Parkway to 280 to 21 to 80 doesn't make any sense at all.

I live in Fort Lee.
