hello,
I am a tourist visiting NYC but can not afford prices of hotels there
so I decided to live in NJ (better prices) and found good place in the Waterfront (close to Newport centre mall)
Is it a good place for tourists? I mean safety, restaurants, supermarkets, and transportation

Yes. That's a nice area, and you can catch the PATH train right into the city.

Definitely. That's in Downtown Jersey City which is safe and has PATH trains to Manhattan.

Smart move. Plus, you get something from that area that you can't get IN NYC--a view of the Manhattan skyline.
I work in that area, and one night last week when I left work it was just getting dark, and across the Hudson I could see the World Financial Center and the two new WTC towers under construction, all lit up, and hanging over them was the full moon. I took a picture of it with my cell.
Enjoy your visit!
