hello,
I am a tourist visiting NYC but can not afford prices of hotels there
so I decided to live in NJ (better prices) and found good place in the Waterfront (close to Newport centre mall)
Is it a good place for tourists? I mean safety, restaurants, supermarkets, and transportation

Yes. That's a nice area, and you can catch the PATH train right into the city. |

Definitely. That's in Downtown Jersey City which is safe and has PATH trains to Manhattan. |

Smart move. Plus, you get something from that area that you can't get IN NYC--a view of the Manhattan skyline.
I work in that area, and one night last week when I left work it was just getting dark, and across the Hudson I could see the World Financial Center and the two new WTC towers under construction, all lit up, and hanging over them was the full moon. I took a picture of it with my cell.
