I know Camden is a bad town but I heard it was pretty nice downtown. Has anyone been here? What is it like? I want to check it out.

I think it is very nice. Lots of different exhibits. Even though it is in Camden I always seem to get in and out pretty quickly and without having to go through any horrible areas. The farthest I have ventured from the actual aquarium was a brew pub across the street. It was fine.

Hi,

I was at the aquarium a couple of months ago.

It is a wonderful aquarium filled with many species including a couple of hippo's. :O)

As my girlfriend and I were driving back to the bridge to return to PA we passed quite a few men passed out from what I assume was from alcohol.

In the five or six blocks back to the bridge most buildings were long since boarded up.

Alot of litter and general filth on the streets about a block from the aquarium seemed to be the norm.

It has alot of potential though.

I just needs some time and investment.

Julia

The aquarium is at the riverfront & is fine if you don't wander far from it. Downtown Camden was once a wonderful place. I've heard that from many of the WWII generation. I lived in Camden County from 1964 to 2008. It was not nice during that time period & could not have possibly become nice since then. This should have been put in the subforum.

The Waterfront area and around the University is clean and safe...don't go north of the Bridge....there are plans to fix up the Waterfront and the Downtown they were about to get underway when the economy tanked.

I went a number of years ago. It was pretty nice. You don't have to go through the city of Camden to get there, either.

Had a great time with the kids. Avoid the Sponge Bob show IMO, you pay for nothing.
