What would be the closest train station with parking? Harrison PATH?

The Clifton station has loads of free parking and is a short ride to NY Penn or Hoboken, and is more affordable than most of these other areas (and is still very safe). You can try checking around there.

I lived in Orange for 2 years just a couple blocks from the CVS near Valley Road. It's funny but crime won't find its way to that area despite being close to Orange. The houses are really nice. The CVS area is very safe. Even the part of Orange where I lived is safe despite looking not so good. Must be that Catholic Church's presence in the area. But once you cross Valley Road into Orange, the houses look more working class, but this is still the safe.

Daily parking at Mountain Station is often possible, but you have to have a plan B, which would be Harrison. From Mountain you'd typically switch at Newark, though I think with the latest schedule there's one train where you switch at Brick Church.

Ive driven through the valley road area at night and I have not seen any problems, in fact theres many nice houses there. You are close to Orange but I would not be overly concerned about crime. West Orange is very large and has very low crime. Pretty much all the crime that happens in the town is in the valley area/down the hill BUT it is still very little crime in the grand scheme of things.
