Default Main Street Townhomes in Sayreville

Hi, Has anyone been through or lives/lived in a townhome area in Sayreville called Main Street? I'm hoping to go there this weekend to check out because I'm interested in buying one there next summer. I can't get any information in the net and when I called one of the agents, the office worker sounded like a dingbat.

Thanks.

My sister had a unit there that she sold a few years ago. They weren't the best built units I've seen (lots of out of level floors, doors that didn't stay closed, etc), but overall they were OK. The neighborhood was pretty clean, too.

Default Thank you.

Considering the slanted apartment I'm in now that would be an improvement. Thanks!

I know a couple people who live over there. They're not fancy homes, but they're nice enough--good starters, IMO. A lot of families with children. The neighborhood is very safe.

Depending on your price range, you could also try La Mer.

Yes, though the construction and workmanship isn't any better, IMO, and prices are higher. Plus, La Mer is crazy congested.

Colony Club would also be an option--I think it is the best of the three.

If you want to go upscale, try The Landings at Spinnaker Pointe.

I looked into a few units at La Mer and I believe Colony Club too. Honestly - I wasn't happy or impressed at all. This is speaking from someone whose father was a structural engineer - and a landscape designer herself. The layout of the complex is very poorly done - there was little thoughts put into it. Though I think that's a problem throughout most of the new(er) development all across New Jersey. It's all about putting as many units in as possible - everything else is secondary. It's both the state and the municipality's fault for allowing developer to do something like that. Secondly - and most importantly, the houses were *very* poorly structured. I looked at the balcony that came out of the second floor, all that was supporting it was two 6"x6" columns that went into the ground - I also question whether it was set into a minimum 3'-0" deep foundation.

Sayreville itself is a very nice and quiet town. It neighbours East Brunswick, which is a lot more crowded and expensive. (Approximately $330~$350K for a okay sized 3 bedroom townhouse that's about 15-20 year old.) We didn't look any harder into Sayreville when we show the constructions - we were quite turned off from them. But I must make it clear that the town itself is nice - maybe there are nicer developments in the area that I didn't have the chance to look into. However, you might consider towns around Sayreville, such as East Brunswick (great school system - hence why it's expensive to live there), Spotswood, and Milltown?

As far as townhomes, that would be The Landings...

Thank you for your input. Thankfully I don't have kids and don't plan on it so schools do not matter. As a matter of fact I'd rather live in a bad school district, lower taxes. LOL LOL People without kids should not have to be made to pay the School portion of property taxes.

You should check out a new local website for the area, www.ilovemilltown.com. It is a local website for Milltown, East Brunswick and North Brunswick. It's new, but there is stuff already up. You should check out the Why I Love... Page where local residents can talk about why they love the area. I live in Milltown and I have to say, it's such a pretty, nice small town. E & N Brunswick have some great townhome complexes too. Hopefully this website will help you. Good luck!
