We wouldn't consider buying a house without a fireplace. It wasn't a problem when our son was little.

Personally I do really use it either but for resale I would say it can not hurt to have it. I have lots of clients that desire fireplaces.

Yes, I'd get it... It is one of those options that isn't very easy to add after a house has been built. Lots of upgrades are easy to do after the fact.

The heat from the fireplace can seriously damage an LCD or PLASMA tv.
