Default How to pick up passengers at Newark Airport by car?

Have to pick up three people tomorrow night. Usually pick family up at JFK where they have a "cell phone lot" where I can park to await arrival. Anything like that at Newark?

Thanks.

There wasn't the last time I checked. We used to hang out at the Burger King or Hess parking lot on Route 1, just south of the airport, and have the passengers call when they had their luggage. They'd tell me what door they were near, and I'd pull up at that door a few minutes later.

Have them meet you at departures since that level of the terminal should be less crowded than the arrival pick ups.

maybe try waiting at the Marriot.

Or it's so bad to just pay for 2 hours parking and walk in to the terminal

There are no cell phone lots and they do not allow you to wait curbside. I live close by so I generally have people call me when they are walking to the baggage claim and leave my house then. I always see people pulled on the shoulder at the exit off 78, or there are restaurants and hotel parking lots that you can wait in on route 1.

The best cell phone lot is the IKEA/Toys R Us lot. Have them call you as soon as they get to the baggage carousel. (Not when they have their luggage). By the time you get there, the bags should be picked up and you'll be there.

If they don't have their bags yet, you can just do a couple of laps around the airport.

With all the terror threats at Newark things may have recently changed, but if you arrive when they're all ready with their bags, you can swing by arrivals and pick them up quickly, but you can't sit for a long time. Last time I went was 2009.

If they only have carryon bags, drive your convertible slowly down the Turnpike and when their plane is just overhead, they can jump.

Thanks, but they have to pick up at baggage claim. Not sure how that would work. Arrival time 11 pm so I would guess crowds would not be too bad then.
