I have a lease for an apartment that I'm going to rent, but there are some things on it that confused me.
There were two separate sections for 'Security Deposit' and 'Rent Security', and on both blank lines was written $1500. The apartment rents for $1000/month. Does this mean they want $3000 for a total deposit before rent? As far as I know landlords can only ask for one and one-half of the monthly rent as a security deposit. The lease agreement form looks pretty generic. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. |

I would guess they want $1500; a $3000 deposit for an apartment that rents for $1000/month is absurd. Why not just ask the property manager?

I would think that $1500 total is what they want for the deposit. Like Christina001 said, a $3000 deposit is outrageous.
