My wife and I are looking to leave Staten Island for a better place to raise our children and have looked at a few houses in Lincroft, Hillsborough, Colts neck.

We were wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

We are looking for something in the 500-600k range with a minimum 100'x100' lot

We love the older well built colonial/victorian/brick houses and would have to be in a neighborhood of other professionals with a reasonable commute to NYC.

As always, I like to put in a good word for Branchburg. It's a better commute than Hillsborough. Branchburg schools (K-8) are wonderful. Great recreation programs, White Oak Park, Branchburg Sports Center and about 5 miles to the Bridgewater Commons Mall. You are right next to Routes 22, 287, 78, 202 and 206. Very bucolic settings. We have the yearly festival of ballooning right next door. Kids go to Somerville High School which is a GREAT small school. Mostly professionals live in the town that work for Merck, J&J, AT&T, Lifecell, Roche, etc. etc.

Hi Jet
Your best location is Lincroft, its in your price range, also its near train & bus station to NY.....Next Colts Neck is about 25 % more, also near stations...as far as Hillsborough Lower RE Prices, but to far of a commute to NY. Good Luck

What's a reasonable commute time to you? Door to door X minutes? Just the commute time (ride on bus or train, etc.) Y minutes?

Sorry, no leaving Staten Island for you. The plan is to deport all Jets fans TO Staten Island.
