Really? How do you know "about 38" comment came from the cop...because your wife said so?

And just an FYI...last time I checked whether you are 1 MPH over the limit or 10 MPH over the limit you are still over the limit and the cop was within his authority to pull your wife over.

in case it wasnt clear the "about 38" comment was from the cop, not my wife.

How long has your father been retired? It is illeagle to have any quotas in any town or municipality. I have CURRENT police officers in the family and they are able to be fired if they are caught giving bogus tickets.

They will write no-points tickets to help you out. He could have given a speeding ticket or something else so count your blessings.

And never mouth off to the cop... stupid to that, just watch "Cops"

I've been told by Police Officers that no they don't have "quotas" BUT they are told if they are not being "productive". Ways to measure "productivity" is numbers of arrests, (actually catching bad guys), or tickets written.

I've been followed at 2 am ish after leaving a diner onto the highway, had a cop car pull right up on my bumper, (maybe I should have slammed on brakes). I was not speeding after 1/2 mile or so, I got pulled over, I guess after he could run my plate on computer. Officer walked up with flashlight peering into rear of vehicle. Did the license and registration thing, since everything checked out, he let me go, telling me I'd drifted over the line.
Well gee, he was 10ft off my bumper, isn't that enough to make one nervous???
I figured he was looking for a dui, could have taken me to jail, processed paperwork and could have finished his shift early, instead of getting stuck with a drunk a 1/2 hr before his shift ended.
Cops can always say you "failed to maintain your lane" and who's gonna argue?
We know who's side the judge will take.
I will also say I've been stopped for doing 10+ over the speed limit, was courteous to the office, not argued, and let go.
Getting pulled over for 38 in a 35 is a little rediculous though.

They are not bogus tickets, there is some sort of infraction of the law. There is some sort of infraction. The time he has been retired isnt the isssue. Things like this done change too much over the years.

Thats why you are always nice to the officer. They can give you a ticket or a warning. You mouth off... not much of a chance for a warning... so what was this woman's attitude like?
