Verizon or T Mobile~Central NJ???
Right now we are in Princeton and looking for a house in a town in central NJ TBD. We are in the process of getting new cell phones. I have heard that Verizon has great coverage but T Mobile has lower priced plans. Looking for recommendations from people who live and work in central NJ. Thanks

I had Verizon a couple of years ago, and there was a dead spot just south of Princeton University. It was the only spot I'd ever found I couldn't get a signal. Otherwise Verizon was excellent with service.

I live in Rahway (Central N.J)
I do work all over NJ and NY and have T-mobile
the only compliant i have with my service is
in a lot of homes i cannot get service in the basement (it is probably because the houses we go in are all burnt up )
on the same note my son has verizon and he has the same problem
but his phone will keep searching and run his battery down
Being a Real Estate Agent and also doing fire inventorys
i depend on my phone alot and would definitely get t-mobile again .

tmobile
i used to work as a B2B sales rep for TMO in Somerset county. TMO has better coverage, but VZ isn't that bad either. TMO is the most popular provider in NJ (I know this from working for TMO), followed by ATT, followed by VZ, followed by Sprint. Just don't get sprint, and u'll be fine!!!!
...a friend of mine lives in Hunterdon, County, NJ and has NO service at all with VZ.

I'd go with Verizon or AT&T. I had T-Mobile. It was cheap but the coverage in central NJ is bad and in some spots, nonexistent. I had lots of dropped calls. I switched to AT&T and it is more expensive (especially with data service) but works much better. I know people who have Verizon and are very happy with it.

AT&T has really improved their service in NJ over the years. Some folks claim they are better than Verizon now. For best results, make sure you get a quadband phone because NJ has many towers using the 850mHz frequency.
My advice is to try it out. AT&T has a 30-day trial period, so if it doesn't work, you can always return it.

I agree with this. I've had McCaw/AT&T/Cingular/AT&T for about 14 years now and service has never been better. It used to be I'd be on a conference call driving home and I'd announce "ok, you all know what's going to happen", and they'd be like "yes, tahiti, you're getting to your dead spot, see you back in 5 minutes". but now i can drive everywhere without dropping. there is still some weird spot on the GSP around the Arts Center where it sounds like the caller is underwater, but otherwise, it's great!
i've never had t-mobile or verizon. i'm surprised t-mobile has the largest presence, i know of noone who has it. doesn't mean anything of course, but i found it interesting.

I was about to post and ask the same question. We have t-mobile and there is no service at all in Cranbury. Does anyone know if Verizon or ATT would work better in Cranbury?

T-Mobile is a mixed bag. I have friends who swear by them, and their plans. I also have a few friends who are always having dropped calls.
I have personally had a Verizon phone for the last 12 years, and a ATT phone for the last 7.
My Verizon service is head and shoulders above the ATT.
