Metuchen train station parking
I'm thinking of moving to Metuchen and am wondering what the situation is like for parking by the train station. Looking at the information at njtransit.com, there seems to be several large lots. Is it generally possible to park there for the daily spots without being there before 6AM? Is the waiting list for a permit 5 years like everywhere else? Any info would be really helpful.

Metuchen is very small, and many apartments, condos, townhomes are walkable to train station. If you have not rented or bought anything at Metuchen, make sure you include "walk to train stn" requirement, and that will make your life much easier...

Thanks for the info. I am trying to find something close, but am curious about the parking situation in case I can't find anything close enough.
Could you recommend any apartment complexes or condo communities to look at that are close enough? Homestead Village seems real nice but has nothing available. I've seen a few listings for Metuchen Gardens. Any thoughts on that one?

its awful.
there is a huge overflow to Metuchen from Metro Park in Edison. Edison lots have atleast a year waiting period for permits, so they all go to Metuchen. I know for a fact Edison has atleast a year wait, I am not sure about Metuchen, but am sure it is the same.
Please make sure you can secure parking before accepting a job, or your commute will be a nightmare.

metuchen -easy commute
Hi,
My name is Ali and I'm not only a long time resident of metuchen, but I'm also a realtor here. I bought my home in Metuchen 7 years ago because I was commuting to NYC and needed the train. It's a ctually one of the easist towns to do so from. If you are a resident of metuchen, there are always parking permits available. It's also only about $75 for a quarter (don't quote me on the exact price since I haven't needed one in a while). In addition, the town runs a free shuttle during commuting hours. You can find the schedule link from the metuchen website. If you have any more questions or need help finding the link to the shuttle schedule, please don't hesitate to contact me. I think you'll really like Metuchen and the commute is as painless as it could be.
Ali

Hi,,
I am a resident of Edison however Metuchen train station is the closest to me, 5 mins distance. I have got the parking spot at metuchen train station but in lot # 9 which is on the main street near remax realty. It is a 15 min walk from the parking lot to the train station each way. I called the parking authority but they said that they have spots available in the pearl street which are for Metuchen Residents, but for edison residents there is a 3 year wait. What is more disapppointing is that in the winter it is going to be tough for me to walk down back and forth from the parking lot to the metuchen train station. If i choose Metropark then that is extra commute time + traffic + there is road work on route 1. I am looking for someone who is a metuchen resident and pays taxes in metuchen and can help me get a parking spot at pearl street. I would appreciate this help from people reading this. Being an edison resident, there is no parking spot for edison residents at the edison train station either. Thanks.

Am planning to buy a house in Central place at Edison which a 1.5 miles from Metuchen train station (yes, Metuchen train station is closer than Edison ). Just wanted to check what is the best way to commute from there to the Metuchen train station. I understand there is an NJ transit bus but that has an hourly frequency. Is there a better way cause getting parking in Metuchen is a challenge for sure..Also are there any car pools ??
