I currently live here, it's a great place. Pretty quiet town, very safe, my friend got into a fender bender and 3 police cars arrived. The police probably have not much to do in this town. I love Ramsey pool and if you're fond of Italian cuisine, there's a lot of Italian restaurants here. Also lots of salons/spas. But cost of living here are pretty high.

I forgot, we are also close to the Ramsey Golf Club. If you choose to live there, it is a great place and close to the nj transit train station. Ridgewood 5 miles away is also very nice.

Oh, yes. there's a lot of young families with young kids definitely. The school system is great. If you drive by main street there's a small movie theater which usually shows movies for kids. A lot of kids with parents there during the weekends. The library is also nice. Try to drive by Ramsey municipal pool which also is a great weekend hangout for families with kids. My son loves it there.

I don't usually commute to Manhattan but I'd think so yes, judging by the cars parked on the train station. I'm not too familiar with the bus routes but when my mother comes to visit, she usually takes a bus from Port Authority to Ridgewood.

Ramsey is lovely. I heard the "locals" grumble quite a bit (when I worked there) that it was getting a bit built up. They keep trying to squeeze more people in, but then again, that's true of almost anywhere and certainly not exclusive to Ramsey or even to New Jersey. I know new condos were going in when I was leaving, I think right where you'd get off from Rte. 17 (or back on at Rte. 17 South). They were highly desired and people were asking about them well before they were officially up--lots of people want to live in this area.
You're seconds from the highway, yet the neighborhoods have a very "neighbor-ey" and set back feel, and then as you get toward the Country Club--well, that area is just gorgeous. The homes and area are very, very pretty there.

Oh, plus, Ramsey has a pretty decent-sized town (shops), and the train is right there.

I have friends who live in Ramsey and they like it. It seems like a nice town to raise a family.

Ramsey is a very Norman Rockwell type town, great to raise a family in. The country club section has about 550 homes in it ranging from 500k to about 1.5 million for the bigger newer homes.
