Actually, I'm in an excellent mood - have been since yesterday, when I was given additional credits by the seller on my house, and finally got a call back from my mortgage processor telling me all is well

SInce they reduced the rates last week i have 3 clients that have offered accepted by the sellers ......Damn i hope they don't bring their HUMMERS with them to the closings!!!!

Your friend is wrong. I can tell you this as I have many friends in New Jersey. And relatives. And former bosses and co-workers. And teachers and former classmates and...Well. Anyway, homes in general, in most major areas--New Jersey as a state certainly doesn't have the market cornered on this--are coming down a bit now. But "low-end" houses being the only to sell? That is just beyond silly.

For a 3 bedroom 1 bath house, that is alot. I was paying less in Manalapan, with 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, Swimming Pool, 1 1/4 acres. Of course its at $12,000 now but its not 1 bathroom.I doubt I could live with 1 bathroom anymore.
My sisters house in LI, and LI has high taxes, much bigger, $9200 a yr.My husband makes 6 figures, I didn't say I was Rich, but we are extremly comfortable. My taxes are $3500 here for a Mcmansion, 44 windows, that is why I said that was high.

McMansion in Tennessee=Desirable, all-brick home with 65 windows in neighborhood with millionaires who sold their homes in California for millions and bought $400k homes with low taxes, all the while driving sports cars because they like speed
McMansion in New Jersey=Undesirable, vinyl-sided home in neighborhood with 20 and 30-something owners with 20:1 debt to income ratios who drive leased Hummers and menance their neighbors with shopping carts, all the while being thisclose to foreclosure
