Default moving to Middlesex, Union county, or Somerset County (need to find cheapest rent possible)

Hello,

I know that rent is pretty expensive in NJ. I've lived in Trenton/Hamilton for most of my life so I have pretty decent rent experiences. My questions is ( I know that this is going to be hard to find but I wanted to put it out there just in case) is anyone renting out or know someone that is renting out a studio apartment or 1 bedroom apt for $750 or less in Middlesex county, Union county, or Somerset county. I'd really prefer if utilities were included ( which I have seen but there is alot of competetion out there for it).

I have been given alot of " you'll never find that" lectures but its all I can afford and the few ads that I have seen for it give me hope. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

-Aaries

750 for a one bedroom with utilities in Middlesex Sounds hard to find. You might find one but it might not be in a good neighbourhood . I can only think of Winding wood apts in Sayreville for that rent Stay out of there though, there have been some murders and stuff there ..

You might find a studio though with some searching. With utilities included, you may have very limited options.
Union has some cheap areas, but I doubt if they are safe.

Try this link . You can put in the amount and areas and do a search.

I don't know what kind of "quality" apartment you're looking for, but I know there are a lot of businesses in Milltown that usually have an apartment that is for rent above the apartment. You may be able to find something in South River too. Good luck.

Aaries,

Ignore the lectures - hard to find, sure, but not impossible. Your best bets are with the landlords who put up a sign in a window/on the lawn, nothing more, since the rest of them have alot of exposure, and usually get the prices pumped up by agents.

If its feasible for you, I'd recommend spending some time driving around the areas you'd like, and calling what you see.

A studio or 1BR is tough though, since many will range from $1200-$1700 in the less expensive markets. Is a roommate not an option? I was renting in Westfield, $650 + utilities, one roommate. Before that, same town, $625/mo for each, 2 roommates though. Each had our own bedroom, just shared living space. However, that life can get to you after a while - it definitely did for me.

Good luck
