Ug..
Well, i went to SBB yesterday to check out Canal Crossings. First impression.. Umm.. it was ok. Nothing stellar.. The models are nice - the Raritan is very nice but the entrance is crazy. You open the front door and are welcomed by a steep flight of 20 steps. Now, I currently live on a 4th floor walk up but I would like to move into a place that actually has a nice entrance. The Delaware has a great entrance and you are only losing the loft. If I bought it, I would have bought the Delaware model.
We took a stroll around the neighborhood. It’s very nice. A drawback is that most people park on the street and don’t utilize their garage. Or everyone has more than 2 cars. Cars are in the driveway plus on the street. The only two places that are being sold by Khov are facing the woods; that’s nice. We met a few neighbors. They all seem young and most commute to the city. Average door to door is 1hr 30minuts - yuk.
Bound Brook town is iffy. I didn’t get a good feeling. Not that I didn’t feel safe, but in my opinion, there is no character. It’s just blah..
And the school system - Geeze
So, yet another strike on the board - Come on – I have been searching for a place to live for years.. My neighbor and I decided we are just going to build a town. I can’t win.. at all!!!

Could have saved you a trip but didn't see your post until today....
I'm sure there are good people who live in BB and SBB but overall neither are towns that you would drive through and get the wrong impression of .
Downtown BB has changed quite a bit over the years....I don't think there are very many stores that don't cater toward the growing Latino influence. And yes, from what I understand there is an illegal alien "issue" in BB.

Bound Brook is trying to rebound....but its still a bit shady in my opinion. the main street still needs a lot of work. brothels are gone, but shady little strip clubs still are there. south bound brook right over the bridge is a slight step up in my opinion. those canal crossings townhomes do look nice, as i drive by all the time. i'd pick SBB over BB if i had my choice. but overall, nothing to great over there. quiet little area, flooding is always still a concern. couple little decent places on the main street but thats about it. depends what your lookin for. i think safety is ok over there, although again, BB can be a little shady still.

The quality of the building should be good from both, but I like Edison more than South Bound Brook. When I mentioned SBB to my colleagues, everyone mentioned about flooding issue. I know the flooding issue exists in Bound Brook, but most people are worried about that. SBB is next to BB. Besides, if you go to NJmonthly.com to check the school district rank, SBB/BB is at the last place in Somerset county. For reselling market in the future, you better go with a town with at least ok school district instead of the worst one.
Good luck.

If you want a great deal, you can see houses in BB that is far from flood zone (broken link) and can walk to Bound Brook Train Station.
School wise, one of the best private school (broken link)is very close by.
Another thing you missed is the Feng Suei of South Bound Brook. It is one of the best Feng Suei in NJ, according to Dr. Tsai, a famous fortuneteller. Yes, lots of water, and water is money...
You pay half to live in million dollar area (broken link) of Bound Brook that is right next to Watchung Mountain, never hit any flood and can use the money saved to send your kids to best private school in NJ, according to Craigslist.

Who? I don't know, but if water was money I don't think BB or SBB would have the issues that they do.

Million dollar area of BB? Where is that? Craiglist rates schools or the seller is doing the rating.....? The last flooding the area had was in April of this year and that whole area got jammed up....even areas that don't usually flood.
Pingry is a good private school if you want to spend over $20K for kindergarten -and if you can afford that, why live in BB? Buy up the mountain and closer to the school which is not so close during rush hour on all those one way mountain streets....

I would try Hillsborough and stay out of Bound Brook and SSB. Hillsborough is voted #23 in Money magazine best places to live in the US also

Sbb???
My spouse insist we give SBB a try. I know it has its problems but we have to move away from E NJ. It is not a decent place to live. Does anyone know if there will be apartment rental in the next 1-2 months?

Keep Looking
I live here and can't say enough bad things. Nobody uses their garage, they were built poorly, most everyone lives in the driveway and garage in the summer, and the taxes are through the roof. Do yourself a favor and buy a small house or rent. This place will be rental only area soon and will really go down hill then.
