I have almost made an offer to the house close to Scotch-Plains high school. how is the neighborhood and the commute to fanwood or Westfield train stations.. Is there any bus into that area?

Also, do you see any issue house being close to 2 blocks high school? I really appreciate your comments..

I'm going to piggyback on your thread if you don't mind. I've noticed several houses for sale on North St. in Scotch Plains. Obviously it is a busier street and close to the railroad tracks so you get a lot more for your money there. If you can stand the noise, is it safe? Any other concerns?

My brother in law lives across the street from a high school. The issues he and his family have had to deal with are that it's noisy during football games and early summer mornings when the marching band has 6am practice before the start of the school year. He didn't mind it until he and his wife had their first child and it woke them and the baby up.

He also has has problems with high school kids parking in front of his home when they were running late or just too lazy to go get a spot in the school lot. The high school kids didn't care if the stepped on his plants and he eventually had to get the city to make the area in front of his house a no parking zone during school hours.
I would think at 2 blocks away, that would not be an issue though.

Good luck with your home purchase!

I lived on Concord Rd and then Redwood road for most of my life. Went to the High School also. I think the area is perfect because you can walk to the middle school, elementary school and the high school! We never minded the football games or band. Actually, it was as just another reminder of the fall and the leaves turning. I'm stuck in stupid PA. I hate it here and wish so badly I can get back to Scotch Plains. Can I ask what the houses are going for now? When we left i sold mine for 630,000 on Redwood rd and we had a 3 bedroom ranch.
