When I see that local commercial that says "West New York, its worth the trip" , I sing along

"West New York, not worth the trip!".

During the day. In West New York right on Bergenline Avenue amidst sidewalk shopping pedestrians. Are you female? Then don't move here. My friend was raped in West New York as well.

Edgewater isn't a small community but you can get around with buses.

Don't move to River Road. It floods every couple years and you might be told to evacuate. It happened in 2011 and 2012.

Fairview sucks. It is full of single men and not of the professional type of jobs. Of the type that will hang out in large groups at all hours of the day and night on the street. And they will most definitely make you feel eye-molested. And I dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing that I can't understand what they are saying. Or slurring or growling or yelling. Just cross the street instead of passing thru that group of a dozen perverted looking youngish men. Its not PC, but its self preservation.

Hoboken was struck pretty hard with the hurricane so theres that. But aside from nowhere to park ever, it has nice shops and its so pet friendly and walkable. Nice in summertime. Lots of diff aged ppl (a lot seem to be 25-35yrs old) out enjoying themselves.
There are some pretty heavy downsides to hoboken: Terrible windy winters, d-bag bros, spoiled young girls who aren't cool, overpriced and over hyped food. They can get away with it because it's so "hip" for Jersey but that doesn't mean by any stretch of the imagination that Hoboken is "cool".

Try Hoboken, North Bergen, Weehawkin, West New York, or Guttenberg.

If you don't mind ruling out South or Central Jersey, Collingswood, Princeton, Belmar, Seaside Heights, Wildwood, Neptune, and New Brunswick are good bets.
