Glen Ridge-jewish community?
Hi all. My husband and 2 year old daughter are trying to find a place to move to from Hoboken. We are researching Glen Ridge after looking in maplewood, south orange, millburn/short hills and summit. I know the schools are great, and I'm trying to find out if there is a jewish community there. thanks in advance.

Fair Lawn is a very Jewish town...great schools, many choices of synagogues, many kosher restaurants, deli's and a kosher food store in town. Great place to raise children. Our neighbors just moved 2 years ago from Hoboken and have a 2 year old girl. They love it here.

If you need to commute to NYC - it is 20 minutes without traffic. Busses all over to take you to NY and a train station in the center of town - tons of parks and activities for children as well in Fair Lawn.

Not much of one, it basically a WASP town. It's very nice, small, great schools. I would suggest Livingston. Great schools and large Jewish community.

Milburn is probably the nicest town in the area with a big Jewish presence. Livingston is nice, but they don't really have a downtown.

Hi
My husband and I are both Indian and were born and raised in New York. We are looking into moving to NJ with our 2 year old daughter. He will be working at Newark Hospital. We are looking to move to a town that has good schools, easy commute for my husband, easy access to midtown ny, has enough activities and restaurants within town, and has a good diversity.....We were looking into Livingston....

hi lolac,
I am also looking for a town with a good jewish population. We are currently living in Manhattan. I am going to go with the board's advice and look at Fair Lawn.

Brookdaleresident is right. Livingston built a new town center that was completed about a year ago. There are all new buildings with lots of shops and restaurants. They even have a Baumgart's restaurant, which is an old Englewood favorite (there's one in Ridgewood too). The shops are a little pricey, but I expected that would be the case. The town is probably 50% Jewish. There are 7 or 8 synagogues to choose from.
