It can really vary block by block, but in general Chambers St. is decent. Just be street smart - don't flash around giant wads of cash, stay with your friends esp. if walking down the street, don't leave valuables visible in your car, trust your instincts, etc.

A robbery occurred on Chambers Street around 9:55 p.m., police said. Although the victim, a 60-year-old, told the robber he had only four dollars, he was thrown to the ground. The suspect took the four dollars, continued to attack the man and demanded more money before giving up and leaving with the cash. The man was admitted to the St. Francis Medical Center for minor injuries and for stress because of existing health issues. |
